On Tuesday April 19th Deputy Jeff Daniel was dispatched to the Dollar General Store located on US 68 E in reference to a subject on surveillance stealing two chairs. The video surveillance observed a male subject in the store and then loading up two chairs that were not paid for. The surveillance was able to detect the plate number off of the vehicle. Deputy Daniel then received another call in reference to the same subject attempting to break into a residence on McNeely Road. When Deputy Daniel made contact with the subject in the vehicle the two stolen chairs were located in the back. The subject admitted to stealing the chairs but not the burglary. Derek J. Baier 25, of Benton, was arrested and charged with Receiving Stolen Property U/$300 and Public Intoxication Controlled Substance.
