On Monday April 11th Sgt. Eddie McGuire was called to the Judicial Building in reference to a subject falling asleep during court. Upon arrival Sgt. McGuire spoke with a Donald P. Lassiter 57, of Benton, and noticed a smell of odor of alcoholic beverage on him. Lassiter was arrested and charged with Alcohol Intoxication in a Public Place.
On Monday April 11th Deputy Jason Lane received a call of a possible collision on Griggstown Road. Upon arrival Deputy Lane and observed two subjects staggering on the roadway with slurred speech. Both subjects were asked who was driving and they both stated that Margaret M. Calhoun 49, of Benton, was the driver at the time of the collision. The vehicle had ran off the roadway into a ditch. The field sobriety test was given in which there were many indications of being under the influence present. Calhoun was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence and License to Be In Possession. The passenger Addison C. Calhoun 25, of Calvert City, was also arrested and charged with Public Intoxication-Controlled Substance.
