Republican Presidential Caucus info for Marshall County residents

The Kentucky Republican Presidential Caucus will be March 5. The Marshall and Livingston County Regional Caucus will be at Central Elementary School in Draffenville located at 115 Jim Goheen Drive, Benton, KY. Voting will begin at 10:00 AM and end at 4:00 PM.

Only Republicans registered by December 31, 2015 will be allowed a vote in the Caucus. Kentucky is the only Caucus that allows Absentee and Military Voting. Absentee Applications must be received at the Republican Party of Kentucky (RPK) before 4:00 PM on February 19th. The application can be mailed, emailed, faxed or hand delivered. Once a person receives an Absentee Ballot, it must be returned to RPK by 4:00 PM on March 4th.

Our Caucus will be a little different than the typical primary. Upon entry, the voter will be greet by people of the Marshall County Republican Party. These will be people from the Marshall County Executive Committee, Marshall County Republican Women and Marshall County College Republicans. Voters will be provided with information about the activities and upcoming dates for meetings. Everyone will be invited to get more involved. After being greeted, the Voter will have the opportunity of stopping at the Candidate Tables for information. While this is a Presidential Caucus, there will be Candidate Tables for Republicans that will be on the May Primary Ballot such as those running for the Kentucky First District U.S. House of Representatives currently held by Ed Whitfield, Kentucky U.S. Senate currently held by Rand Paul and Paula Robinson who is our nominee for the Kentucky Sixth District State House of Representatives.

Once the voter is ready, they will proceed to the Voting Area. This area will be separated by Twenty-five feet from the Candidate Tables. There will be separate areas for voters from Livingston and Marshall Counties. The two counties will be totaled and reported individually. At this point, the Caucus will be like a primary. The voter will have to provide Identification and sign the Voter Book. After this, the voter will be given a Ballot. The Ballot will have the Eleven Candidates that filed for our Caucus. They are, in order of their filing date, Jeb Bush, Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Ben Carson, Marco Rubio, Rand Paul, John Kasich, Chris Christie, Carly Fiorina, Rick Santorum and Mike Huckabee. The option of Uncommitted will be on the ballot as well. Then, the Voter will proceed to the voting table. Once their ballot has been marked, the Voter will deposit their ballot into the Ballot Box.

A voter can check their registration and voting place on rpk.org. We have more information available at kentuckylakegop.com or they can call the Livingston and Marshall County Caucus Chairman, Danny Holt, at 270.205.0154.
