MURRAY – At the halftime break, the Lady Marshals led Graves County 25-21 in Monday’s 1st Region Tournament, looking to be in control and on their way to Friday’s semi-finals, but the second half was a different story. Marshall County hit just two field goals in the entire second half, scoring eight points to fall to Graves County 44-33.

Hannah Langhi, guarded by Lady Eagle Cassidy Sheppard, led the Lady Marshals with 10 points and 8 rebounds.

The game began on a basket by Lexee Miller followed by two straight by Graves County’s Cassidy Sheppard for a 4-2 Lady Eagle lead, then tied up on a field goal by Hannah Langhi and go-ahead basket by Nikki Fehrenbacher, a lead they would hold on to through the second quarter.

Miyah Davis opened the second quarter with a three followed by a free throw by Miller that gave the Lady Marshals their largest lead of the game at 17-7. Another three from Davis, just under three minutes left in the quarter gave them a 25-17 lead that the Lady Eagles cut in half getting a basket from Sheppard who was fouled, missing the free throw but saved on the rebound and put back up and in by Danielle Waggoner to trail by four at halftime.

Langhi scored the Lady Marshals only third quarter field goal to start the quarter on a 27-21 lead and from that point on, the Lady Eagles out-scored them 13-1 with a final point at the end of the quarter coming from Langhi on a free throw.

Down six, 34-28, starting the fourth quarter, Davis scored to cut the Lady Eagles lead to four, but the scoring drought would continue making nine more field goal attempts and getting just three more points from free throws by Kat Howard and Fehrenbacher on their way to the season-ending loss.

Graves County will move on to play McCracken County Friday in the semi-finals. The Lady Mustangs beat Fulton County 57-21 in the second game on Monday. Graves County and McCracken County have split games during the regular season.
