On Saturday February 20th Deputy Luke Rudd was dispatched to a motor vehicle that had struck Hardin Baptist building on Commerce Street. The caller described the vehicle and stated it was leaving the scene. Deputy Rudd located a vehicle matching that description with front end damage parked at the Blood River Baptist Association parking lot in Hardin. The vehicle was still running and was occupied by Bobby W. Knight 34, of Benton. There were visible open containers located in the vehicle and Knight was having trouble responding to questions. The field sobriety test was offered to Knight but declined stating he was going to jail anyway. Knight was charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Leaving Scene of Accident and Possession of Open Alcoholic Beverage Container in Motor Vehicle. After arriving at the Marshall County Detention Center, Knight was advised that if he had anything on him that he would have more charges. During the search, Knight was trying to dispose of a bag of marijuana that he got out of his chest pocket, by flushing it down the toilet. Knight was then charged with Promoting Contraband 1st Degree and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Two people were arrested on drug and other charges following a traffic stop Saturday in Marshall County. According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, a deputy stopped a vehicle on Scale Road driven by 23-year-old Callie Chambers of Benton. Upon approaching the vehicle, the deputy reportedly noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. After conducting field sobriety tests, Chambers was placed under arrest. Marijuana, a small package containing several Xanax and drug paraphernalia were located on Chambers and inside the vehicle. Chambers was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence second offense, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of controlled substance and prescription controlled substance not in the proper container. A passenger in the vehicle, 22-year-old David Hollowell, of Paducah, was also placed under arrest for public intoxication. Both Hollowell and Chambers were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
Four people were arrested Friday after police found an active meth lab inside a Marshall County home. According to the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to Commerce Street in Hardin to serve an arrest warrant. While at the home, deputies reportedly found an active meth lab. As a result of the ensuing investigation, 46-year-old James E. Warford of Hardin was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was also served a Marshall County Circuit bench warrant for failure to appear on previous drug charges and a Calloway Circuit warrant on a trafficking charge. Also arrested were 35-year-old Kurtis L. Jacobson of Benton, 37-year-old Megan S. Watters of Farmington and 45-year-old Andrew Kelley of Hopkinsville. Jacobson was charged with manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Watters and Kelley were charged with manufacturing methamphetamine. All four were lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
