Gas prices beginning to rise locally

Average retail gasoline prices in Kentucky fell a half-cent per gallon in the past week, but rose nearly a dime a gallon locally.

The Kentucky statewide average is at $1.57 gallon as of Sunday, according to GasBuddy. This compares with the national average that has increased 2 cents per gallon to $1.71 gallon.

In the Lakes Area, prices went from the lower $1.40’s a gallon to most stations being at $1.51 or higher, with the extremes at both ends ranging from $1.49 to $1.78.

Prices Sunday were 68 cents per gallon lower than the same day one year ago and are 10 cents per gallon lower than a month ago.
