Kentucky Severe Weather Preparedness Week is Feb 22-28

In preparation for the spring weather season, the Kentucky Weather
Preparedness Committee, holds the annual severe weather
preparedness campaign for Kentucky in the late winter each year.
The Kentucky Weather Preparedness committee consists of
representatives from the NWS, Kentucky Emergency Management, the
media and others.

The purpose of the campaign is to provide a time of focus
regarding severe thunderstorms and their offsprings of damaging
thunderstorm winds, destructive hail, flash flooding and
tornadoes.

In addition to raising awareness levels of these hazards, the
intention of the campaign is to promote practice of severe weather
drills by everyone within the commonwealth. The statewide tornado
drill serves this purpose and also provides a test of the
communication infrastructure utilized during a n actual severe
weather event. This year's tornado drill for Kentucky will be held
as follows:

Date: Tuesday, February 23
Time: Approximately 9:07 AM CST
Code: TOR (EAS/NWR)
