NWS issues warning for slight risk of severe weather

According to a hazardous weather outlook issued by the National Weather Service isolated thunderstorms are forecast over southeast Missouri and southwest Illinois after midnight Tuesday morning.

Any storms tonight are expected to remain below severe limits.

Strong to severe thunderstorms capable of producing damaging wind gusts are expected to develop around noon Tuesday over southeast Missouri, then quick move across southern Illinois and western Kentucky between noon and 7:00 pm.

The severe thunderstorms will likely be found in short lines.

A few thunderstorms within the lines may strengthen enough to produce brief tornadoes.
