Shooting struggles for Marshals in two point win over Lyon County

EDDYVILLE – The Marshals extended their record to 12-8 after their 43-41 win over Lyon County Tuesday, snapping the Lyons 5-game win streak, but it didn’t come easy hitting just 12 of 50 field goal attempts and 2 of 15 attempts from three-point range.

Lyon County led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter with the Marshals taking the edge at halftime, 21-20. Out-scoring the Lyons by one in the third quarter put the Marshals up by two heading into the final quarter. Both teams scored 13 points in the fourth quarter with the Marshals taking an 8-point lead at one point, the largest lead by either team in the game.

Dylan Walters led in the win with 12 points and 15 rebounds. Lyon County was led in scoring by Josh Mincey with 16 points and 14 rebounds.

The Lady Marshals were in action on Tuesday at Christian County pulling out a 32-31 win and extending their season record to 16-4.

The Lady Colonels led 14-12 at halftime and 25-22 at the end of the third quarter. The Lady Marshals out-scored Christian County 10-6 in the final quarter for the 1-point win.

Both teams will celebrate Homecoming in a double-header on Friday against Paducah Tilghman.
