On Thursday January 21st Deputy Jason Ivey was dispatched to the area of Scale Road in reference to a possible intoxicated driver in a green dodge truck that had almost hit another vehicle head on. Deputy Ivey met the described vehicle On Scale Road and was well over the center line. Deputy Ivey swerved to miss the vehicle as the described vehicle struck the mirror on Deputy Ivey’s patrol vehicle.
Upon contact with the subject, Deputy Ivey detected a strong smell of alcoholic beverage and the subject was very unsteady on his feet. The subject was detained and a small baggie of marijuana and a pipe in his pants pocket. Dispatch confirmed that the subjects license was also suspended. Michael J. Hoffman 39, of Calvert City, was arrested and charged with Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, Wanton Endangerment 1st Degree, Operating on Suspended or Revoked Operators License, Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
