NWS announces two systems could bring winter weather this week

Western Kentucky has two different weather systems on the way that could bring a chance of snow over the area.

The first one could come as early as overnight Tuesday night and into Wednesday.

Forecasters with the National Weather Service in Paducah are calling for an 80 percent chance of freezing rain, sleet, and snow Tuesday night, although a predicted amount isn’t yet available.

Whatever amount we do get, it is expected to be short lived, with highs on Wednesday expected to be well above freezing.

Then on Thursday night and into Friday, forecasters are calling for more snow, with a predicted amount, not yet known.

Other commercial forecasters are calling for the storm system to be moving a little faster than the National Weather Service models are indicating.

Some forecasters believe the system will start snowing on Thursday afternoon, and taper off into Friday morning.
