Most of us suspected as much, and numbers from the National Weather Service bear it out — last month was the warmest December ever in our area.
December’s average temperature was 48.9 degrees, which smashes the old record of 45.4 degrees in December of 1971.
Five all-time record high days were set last month, including 70 degrees on the day after Christmas.
It was also the first December without snow since 2009-10.
There was plenty of rain, though. December was the 8th wettest on the books, with 7.42 inches in the gauge.
