National Weather Service predicts record highs for our area this week

The week’s outlook of daily temperatures in the low-to-mid sixties could bring the Ohio Valley its warmest Christmas Day since 1982, when the Lakes Area notched a record 69 degrees for the date.

Since record keeping began in 1937, we have only seen four Christmas Day highs in the sixties.

The entire month of December has been warmer than normal locally, and a strong El Nino current in the Pacific Ocean could have an influence on our region’s winter — which begins officially on Monday — calling for the Ohio Valley to be warmer and drier than average.
