BENTON – In its eighth year, the annual lighted Christmas Parade and Dickens Christmas Festival was held Saturday evening around the Benton Court Square.
Said to be the largest crowd yet for the event, activities for young and old put everyone in the Christmas spirit with events like Cookies with Santa, Power Wheels Car Show, Sydney’s Christmas Bazaar and free popcorn and cookies while waiting for the parade.
The lighted Christmas Parade hit the Court Square around 5:00 led by Grand Marshals Dallas and Lisa Peck and the Metal Mafia Car Club. Float winners were Hardin Baptist Church and Girl Scout Troop #72.
Following the parade, the crowd dispersed to the Plaza to enjoy many activities including a showing of The Grinch Who Stole Christmas and a chance to meet and have a picture taken with Queen Elsa, Princess Anna and Olaf from Frozen and The Grinch and Cindy Lou Who while enjoying popcorn, cookies and punch.
Strolling through Dickens Alley, everyone enjoyed free food and music for a nostalgic trip back in time along with community members dressed from the 1800’s era.
