COLUMBIA, Missouri – Former Lady Marshal golf team member, Cayce Hendrickson, is teeing it up at the University of Missouri this year after a stellar career at Marshall County High School where she won the 1st Region title in 2013 and helped to lead the Lady Marshals to four consecutive trips to the KHSAA State Tournament.
The Mizzou Lady Tigers won the Johnie Imes Invitational on Tuesday setting a new 54-hole team record of 39-under par with a team total score of 825.
Mizzou’s Jessica Meek won the individual title in the two-day tournament played at Mizzou’s home course at The Club at Old Hawthorne. Meek’s 15-under along with teammates Michelle Butler and Clara Young both tying for second, set a new record for the three best performances in tournament history.
The Lady Tigers were just two strokes away from setting the NCAA Division I women’s current golf record of 41-under, winning by 25 strokes over second place MTSU.
Hendrickson carded a 222 (73-74-75) to lead the tournament in individual play with the fifth best score of the day for the Mizzou women which earned the freshman a spot on the traveling team to next week’s tournament in San Antonio, Texas, at the Jim West Challenge.
Hendrickson’s dad Rich who made the trip to watch the tournament said his daughter is rising to the challenge of playing for a top SEC golf program which is exactly where she wants to be, gaining experience and improving behind some of the top players in the country.
