DRAFFENVILLE – Brittany Kimbro scored the Lady Marshals first goal on an assist from Kayla Travis nine minutes before halftime in Thursday for a 1-0 halftime lead,  much the same as their first contest this season against the Lady Eagles before they poured in on in that game in the second half on their way to a 5-1 victory.

Two minutes into the second half Bailey Wood made it a 2-0 game followed three minutes later by a goal from Kayla Travis to make it 3-0 which would be the final score.

“Tonight we were both a bit of a MASH unit”, Head Coach Michael Boone said on several key injuries on both teams. Graves County is without senior goalkeeper Callie Thomas, Camryn Crass is out for the Lady Marshals until district tournament time and B.J. Wagner and Allye Darnell’s collision during the game sent the two to the sidelines.

“This is not a good indicator of the type of game it will be when we play them again in the district semis”, Boone said. “I’m proud of the girls for coming out with some intensity early in the second half, kind of putting it away. I was a good district win.”

Keeper Allie Fiske with the shutout had eight saves in the win. Marshall County’s record advances to 8-4 while the Lady Eagles drop to 7-4.

The Lady Marshals JV and Varsity teams will play at Ohio County on Saturday at 1:00 and 2:30.
