MURRAY – Marshall County Lady Marshals (5-3-2) took on the 16th ranked Murray High Lady Tigers (9-2) Tuesday in Murray, hoping for a split after losing the first meeting at home 3-1 back on August 20th.
Murray’s Parker Greer came out firing, scoring the first two goals of the game in the first six minutes for a 2-0 Lady Tiger lead. Bailie Wood scored for the Lady Marshals before halftime to cut the Lady Tiger lead 2-1 and a goal by Rachel McWilliams early in the second half tied the game 2-2.
Murray scored two more goals in the final 14 minutes of the game from Brittany Lawson and Olivia Butterworth for the 4-2 win. Murray out-shot Marshall County 11-8, Allie Fiske had 3 saves and assists came from Karman Jackson and Kayla Travis.

In a very competitive boy’s game, Marshall County came out on top 4-3, in a game that played an important part in the Marshals possibly securing a number three seed in the district tournament.
“This is a fight for the three see maybe or at least a lock for the three seed”, Head Coach Andy Pagel said.
Marshall’s Seth Strader put the first goal on the board with another goal added by Daniel Lepore for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Murray’s Cole Riley scored two goals for Murray in the second half to tie the game 2-2 but the Marshals went up again on a free kick goal by Dawson Jolley.
Riley completed his hat-trick scoring to tie things up again for Murray at 3-3 and with six minutes to go, a direct kick by Strader was deflected into the goal by Cole Jewell to give the Marshals the win, but not without a battle from the Tigers in the closing minutes of the game.
Marshall out-shot Murray 24-6 but three of Murray’s six were on-goal and all resulted in goals from Riley. Marshall County’s record advances to 9-3 while Murray drops to 5-6 on the season.
The Marshals will play at home Thursday against Hopkinsville. This will be the second meeting in five days for the Marshals and Tigers after Hopkinsville’s 5-0 win on Sunday in the Boots and Butts Soccer Classic.
