In a very competitive boy’s game, Marshall County came out on top 4-3, in a game that played an important part in the Marshals possibly securing a number three seed in the district tournament.

“This is a fight for the three see maybe or at least a lock for the three seed”, Head Coach Andy Pagel said.

Marshall’s Seth Strader put the first goal on the board with another goal added by Daniel Lepore for a 2-0 halftime lead.
Murray’s Cole Riley scored two goals for Murray in the second half to tie the game 2-2 but the Marshals went up again on a free kick goal by Dawson Jolley.

Riley completed his hat-trick scoring to tie things up again for Murray at 3-3 and with six minutes to go, a direct kick by Strader was deflected into the goal by Cole Jewell to give the Marshals the win, but not without a battle from the Tigers in the closing minutes of the game.

Marshall out-shot Murray 24-6 but three of Murray’s six were on-goal and all resulted in goals from Riley. Marshall County’s record advances to 9-3 while Murray drops to 5-6 on the season.

The Marshals will play at home Thursday against Hopkinsville. This will be the second meeting in five days for the Marshals and Tigers after Hopkinsville’s 5-0 win on Sunday in the Boots and Butts Soccer Classic.
