DRAFFENVILLE – Murray scored less than three minutes into the game Thursday on a goal by Liz Armstrong when the #25 preseason ranked team came to Colburn Stadium Thursday night to play the #17 preseason pick Lady Marshals.

The Lady Marshals wasted little time tying the game up just over two minutes later by Camryn Crass on an assist by Bailey Wood.
Murray’s Alexandra Pologruto gave the Lady Tigers a 2-1 halftime lead, scoring 24 minutes into the first half.
Twenty-four minutes into the second half Murray’s Linda Arkalian scored for a 3-1 lead which would hold up for the early season district win over the Lady Marshals.
Head Coach Michael Boone felt the quick and physical Lady Tigers dictated play the entire game.
“We just couldn’t get the ball on our end”, Boone said. “We never got in a rhythm and nothing came together for us.”
“I told the girls, it’s the second game of the season. Maybe were not as good yet as we thought we were which is fine, as long as we work to be better by October and most likely we will play them three more times. They’re a good team and hopefully we can match up with them a little better the next time around.”
The Lady Marshals play three district games next week and will get their chance again at Murray on September 15th, which could decide the district.
We’ve got to focus and get better”, Boone said.
Marshall County opened their season Thursday at Clarksville, the defending Tennessee State Champions. Clarkville won 3-2 but the Lady Marshals led in stats out-shooting them 10-9 and 9-8 in shots on goal. Camryn Crass scored both of the Lady Marshals goals and keeper Allie Fiske had five saves in the game.
Saturday, the Lady Marshals play in a Round Robin at Daviess County against Greenwood and Logan County.
