Hardin man charged with DUI and assault related to alleged hit-and-run

duiBENTON – A Hardin motorist faces charges of DUI and assault after an alleged hit and run Wednesday.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s office received a call that a motorist saw a car drive up behind him, shine bright lights and bump the rear of his car while traveling on the Purchase Parkway.

Deputy Nathan Maxlow investigated and found the suspect’s car on Slickback Road. Maxlow met with driver Charles Lindzy, 54, of Hardin. The deputy observed Lindzy had the smell of alcohol. Lindzy said he flashed high beams at the other car and followed closely. He did not believe he struck the other car.

Maxlow observed paint transfer on both cars indicating a collision. He conducted a field sobriety test, and noted several indicators of inebriation. Maxlow also found an open bottle of whiskey in Lindzy’s vehicle.

Lindzy was charged with DUI, possession of an open container of alcohol in a vehicle, leaving the scene of an accident and assault. Lindzy was lodged  in the Marshall County Detention Center.
