BENTON – The Marshall County Sheriff’s office made two arrests Wednesday related to drugs, probation violation and tampering with evidence.
Deputies were called to assist the Kentucky Office of Probation and Parole with a residential visit at 2115 Scale Road. They observed a man leaving the residence hurriedly with a black bag. Detectives found him walking across neighboring yards and attempted to make contact. The man ran from detectives, though he was quickly caught. Detectives saw the bag being thrown into a neighbor’s crawl space and recovered it.
The bag contained digital scales, over an ounce of methamphetamine, marijuana, plastic baggies and methamphetamine smoking devices.
Police identified the man as Joshua Schecter of Calloway County.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence. Inside, they found a pound of marijuana, digital scales and over $5,000 in cash.
Police charged Schecter with tampering with evidence. Representatives of the Office of Probation and Parole charged Todd Lovett with probation violation. The investigation remains open with additional charges expected.
