BENTON – The Marshall County Public Library @Benton received a special visitor on Wednesday when Kentucky State Senator Danny Carroll stopped by to tour the facility.

“We are very proud of our library system here in Marshall County,” says Director Kristi Tucker. “It was an honor to spend some time with Senator Carroll and show him what it is we do for our community.”

The Marshall County Public Library is among the most used in the state. According to the 2013-2014 Kentucky Public Library Statistics, it ranks second in the state in book circulation per capita and sixth in the state in registered borrowers per capita. During the 2013-2014 fiscal year, over 202,000 persons entered the library; more than 239,000 materials were circulated; and nearly 500 programs were held.

During his visit, Senator Carroll attended the library’s Mother Goose program, which provides stories and activities for toddlers. He was also presented with a copy of the READ poster he posed for in support of Kentucky’s libraries.
