MARSHALL COUNTY – Following the fatal shooting death of a Marshall County man during an alleged burglary attempt from a McCracken County Mini storage, further investigation has now led to the discovery of stolen property in a separate storage unit.

Thirty-six year-old Brandon York was reportedly a passenger in a vehicle driven by 30 year-old Garlon Cox on the morning of June 8, when the owner of items being held in a rental storage unit in Reidland claims he arrived to find the men stealing his belongings.

During the incident, Cox was shot and suffered fatal wounds and York fled on foot but was later caught by police and arrested.

Following the incident, the Marshall County Sheriff’s Office conducted a subsequent search warrant at a local storage unit where detectives discovered items matching the descriptions of contents stolen from storage units over the last several months.

Numerous thefts have been reported throughout the west Kentucky region in the previous months with York being named as a suspect.

The Marshall County Sheriff’s Office will conduct an open house for viewing the items on Thursday June 25 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. and Friday June 26 from 2 p.m. until 7 p.m. at the Marshall County Judicial Building located at 80 Judicial Dr. in Benton.

Persons viewing need to have filed a police report in their local jurisdiction and have the report with them or have proof of ownership of items.
