DRAFFENVILLE – This year’s Relay for Life is being held on Saturday June 13, a change from the event’s typical Friday night scheduling. Additionally, the event will only run through 11 p.m. rather than overnight as it has in years past.
Survivors can register at Relay on Saturday between 4:30 p.m. and 5:45 pm. where T-shirts can be picked up. Relay for Life participants and donors can also choose to remember loved ones lost to cancer and honor those battling the disease by purchasing and dedicating a luminaria. They will be available from 4 to 6 p.m.
Luminaria are paper bags containing votive candles which line the track of the Marshall County football field and are illuminated after dark. Each luminaria is personalized with a name, photo, message or drawing in memory or honor of a friend or loved one who has been affected by cancer.
This year’s Relay event will also feature a silent auction set to run from 4 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Opening ceremonies begin at 6 p.m.
