DRAFFENVILLE – It was Senior Night Thursday when the Lady Marshals (16-6) hosted Christian County (17-8) but they were not able to pull out the win for seniors Chaney Stearns and Hailey Harrell, despite a 3-run rally in the seventh to cut the Lady Colonels lead in half.
After putting three runs on the board in the first inning and three in the second, the Christian County bats went silent after Gabi Snow came to the mound late in the third inning allowing just one hit.
Abby Fiessinger had a good night at the plate going 3-3 with a single in the first, single in the fourth and triple in the sixth. Fiessinger’s triple in the sixth came with two outs, making an attempt to score from third base but called out a home plate.
A single by Payton Smothers and single by Kenslie Cross opened the seventh inning followed by a single from Bailey Murphy that scored MacKenzie Tack (courtesy runner).
With two outs, MacKenzie Harper reached on an error with Murphy and Lakyn Rye (courtesy runner) making their way to home plate for the second and third runs, but the Lady Marshals fell short, leaving one stranded in the 6-3 loss.
The Lady Marshals will head to Bowling Green today to play Livingston Central in the Best of the West.
