BENTON – Former Marshall County Head Football Coach Ron Barnard has been arrested once again, this time on new charges involving a minor. Barnard was arrested this evening and charged with possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor (class D felony), promoting a sexual performance by a minor under 18 (class C felony), and unlawful use of electronic means to induce a minor to engage in sexual or other prohibited activities (class D felony).
The new charges stem from an ongoing investigation conducted by Detective Lieutenant Matt Hilbrecht in which the defendant had previously been charged in June of 2014. Further examination of electronic evidence has yielded a new juvenile victim and the additional charges.
It is anticipated that the new charges will be presented at the next Grand Jury session on May 14. Due to the victim being a juvenile, no additional information will be released. Barnard was arrested and brought in a short time ago where he was lodged in the Marshall County Detention Center.
