Boy’s 4 x 800 relay team and Twilight Relays, highlights from last week in track

DRAFFENVILLE – Marshall County hosted their annual Twilight Relays Friday evening with the Marshall boys coming out on top with 120 points, followed by Ft. Campbell with 104 and Graves County in third with 86 points.
The Marshall girls took second with 101.50 points behind Newton, IL with 107 points and third went to Herrin, IL with 91.50 points.

with a 96′ throw in the javelin.
The boy’s recorded six first place finishes also in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 freshman relays, the 4 x 400 relay, the distance medley relay, Drey Reed in the high jump and Casey Gregory in the pole vault.

In meets on April 18th, the girl’s team competed near St. Louis in the Lafayette High School Lady Lancer Invitational while the boy’s team traveled to Evansville to the Charlie Sieskey KY-IN Challenge.

Highlights from the Lady Lancer Invitational came from Sydney Goff and Stephanie Russell who finished 1-2 in the 100 meter hurdles and Russell going on to a 3rd place finish in the 300 meter hurdles. Rachel Prange took 2nd in the shot put pentathlon, Michaela Rogers was 3rd in the JV 100 meters and Sabrina Collins captured 3rd in the JV 300 hurdles.

The Varsity girls took 4th in the 11 team meet with the team from Lafayette taking 1st.

The Marshals meet at Evansville High School was highlighted by a 2nd place finish from the 4 x 800 relay team in a time of 8:07.23 which is the 2nd fastest time in the state this season. The team is made up of Austin Shackleford, Collin Gunn, Robert Blankenship and Jacob Carnine.

Other noteworthy finishes came from the 4 x 400 relay team taking 3rd, Austin Shackleford and Jacob Carnine were 3rd and 5th in the 800 meters, Gunn took 5th in the 1600 meters, Casey Gregory was 6th in the pole vault and Nathan Solomon took 6th in the 200 meters.
