DRAFFENVILLE – Before spring break, the Marshall tennis team took on Murray losing in both girl’s and boy’s matches 6-3.
“Murray girls are a very strong team but I was really pleased with the way our girls played today”, Head Coach Tyler Brockman said. “We had some very good matches up and down the lineup. Our top two doubles teams played really well and Elizabeth had a great match at #1 singles so that is very encouraging to see.”
Hannah Travis, Allie Fiske in singles and the double team of Travis and Nikki Fehrenbacher got the W’s for the girl’s team.

Conner Jones, Will Forbis in singles and the doubles team of Jones and Sam Gold had victories for the boys against Murray.
“Conner and Sam played great in doubles”, Brockman said. “The doubles team they beat was one of the top doubles teams in the region. Conner has been playing really well this season and I think Sam is starting to pick it up. I was also impressed with Will’s play in singles.”

Back in action after a week off for break, the Marshall team hosted Calloway County Tuesday with the girls picking up a 5-4 win and the boys losing to the Lakers 5-4.
“I’m so proud of our girls for fighting back in this match”, Brockman said. “We lost the first three singles matches and had to win the rest of our singles matches to come out victorious and our lower-seeded players stepped up huge for us. Abbey, B.J. and Allie all played great and were able to win close matches to help us get the win today.”

Coach Brockman said of the boy’s matches that they were tough, with some playing very well and others struggling.
“We are very comparable to Calloway so it was a good match to see where we are”, Brockman said. “Hopefully we can continue to play well down the stretch.”
