
INDIANAPOLIS – Marshall County native, Barry Goheen, Chariman of the Atlanta Tip-Off club, presented UK Coach John Calipari with the Naismith Coach of the Year award on Sunday in Indianapolis. This was Calipari’s third time to receive the award.
Also announced in Indianapolis, the 12 members to be inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame which included Calipari and 11 others.
Goheen played basketball at Marshall County and in 1984 led the Marshals to their first ever appearance in the Kentucky State Sweet 16, also setting a school scoring record for most points in a single game, most points in a season and most points in a career.
He was Mr. Basketball runner-up in 1985 going on to play for Vanderbilt where among many of his accomplishments was a 1st Team All SEC selection in 1989.
Goheen was inducted into the Marshall County Hall of Fame in 2010.
