Mr. Avous Eugene Lake, 81 of Smithland, Kentucky, a follower of Jesus Christ, passed away Sunday, April 5, 2015, at Metropolis Nursing and Rehabilitation in Metropolis, Illinois.
Born Friday, June 23, 1933 in Barbourville, Kentucky, he was the son of the late General Lake and the late Myrtie (Mayne) Lake. He was the husband of the late Shirley Jean (Ray) Lake.
He was a retired automaker with General Motors Corporation and honorably served in the United States Army.
Surviving are his three daughters, Joyce E. Fike, husband Darrell of Benton, Kentucky, Jean Milo, husband Mike of Smithland, Kentucky and Janice Carroll, husband David (Deceased) of Ledbetter, Kentucky, three sisters, Marie Partin, deceased, Corine Williams of Michigan and Hazel Lawson of Corbin, Kentucky; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of the Collier Funeral Home in Benton, Kentucky. Interment will follow the service in New Sand Hill Cemetery, Graves County, Kentucky.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday, April 6, 2015, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th, Benton, Kentucky.
