Hopkinsville, Owensboro Catholic hand Marshals first two losses of the season

HOPKINSVILLE – The Marshals dropped their first games of the season to Hopkinsville and Owensboro Catholic Friday and Saturday to move their overall record to 6-2. Both Hopkinsville and Owensboro Catholic have one loss each to date.

Friday at Hopkinsville, Cody Clark was a perfect 2-2 with a double and single, Blake Johnson was 1-3 with a double and Justice Beal 1-3 to out-hit Hopkinsville 4-2, but the Tigers pulled out the win on two hits.

A bases loaded walk by by Austin Poe in the 4th inning tied the game up at 1-1 with the Marshals leaving three stranded on the final out.
After going up 2-1 in the bottom of the 5th, the Tigers scored two more runs on two outs to take a 4-1 lead.
Hopkinsville scored their final run of the game in the 6th inning on a bases loaded, two-out walk.

A 2nd inning RBI double by Justice Beal scored the Marshals only run in their 7-1 loss to Owenboro Catholic in Owensboro Saturday.
Beal was 2-3 with a double to left field that brought in Dalton Riley. The Marshals left two stranded with the third out in the inning that tied the game up 1-1.

Owensboro scored two runs on two outs in the bottom of the 2nd inning to take a 3-1 lead and their big four-run 5th inning put the game away after the first three batters took walks to load the bases.
Jacob Mulcahy went the distance on the mound for Owensboro Catholic giving up six hits and one run.
