Local motorists advised to be aware of influx in motorcycle traffic as Sturgis participants roll through

sturgisWEST KENTUCKY - An estimated 20,000 motorcycle riders are expected to roar in to Sturgis, KY, this weekend for the Kentucky Bike Rally. The event runs July 17-20, at the Union County fairgrounds.

Two local residents arrested following the discovery of a meth lab in Calvert City home

arrested-logoCALVERT CITY - Two Calvert City residents have been arrested after a methamphetamine lab was discovered during the serving of a warrant. Detectives with the Marshall County Sheriff's Office assisted Deputy William Strader with the warrant for Chrystal Ashford-Payne at a residence located at 7469 Industrial Hwy.
While attempting to locate Payne, detectives discovered the meth lab inside the residence.  Detectives located the female hiding upstairs in the attic behind insulation.  Marshall County was assisted by officers from the Calvert City Police Department.
Payne was arrested for the arrest warrant.  Several other subjects were also at the residence. Additional charges are pending.
Thirty four year-old Gary Payne, of Calvert City, was charged with Manufacturing Meth 1st Offense; Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
Chrystal Ashford-Payne, 31 of Calvert City, was charged with Manufacturing Meth 1st Offense; Possession of Controlled Substance 1st Degree; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

High School turn lane projects moving forward quickly, but not likely to be complete before school is in session
