Lady Marshals will play for fifth straight Region 1 title

Anna Robertson sets up the play for the Lady Marshals in Tuesday’s 7-0 Region 1 Tournament semi-final win over Paducah Tilghman.

Thursday on their home field, the Lady Marshals will play for their 22nd Region 1 Championship in the history of the program. The Lady Marshals beat Paducah Tilghman 7-0 in the first semi-final on Tuesday. They will take on Graves County who beat McCracken County 2-1.

Scoring began in their 16th shutout of the season by Kelsey Crass five minutes in. Paducah Tilghman had a couple of shots on goal in the half, the first from Erica Wurth that was saved by Parker Perry and the second by Kiersa Atnip that hit off the side post.

Kallen Fuller scored at the 30′ mark in the half for a 2-0 lead and it was 3-0 at halftime on Crass’ second goal of the game.

Two quick goals opened the second half, the first coming two minutes in by Fuller with her second goal and it was a 5-0 game less than a minute later on a goal by Zoe Maxlow. Four minutes later and it was Hope Howard who found the net on a free kick for a 6-0 lead.

Katelynn Ringstaff scored the final goal off of a corner kick by Janie Pagel with 12 minutes left in the game. Assists on goals also went to Crass with two and one each by Maxlow and Anna Robertson. Perry had four saves.

Game time on Thursday is 6:00 at Colburn Stadium.
