Marshals take top podium spots in six races in Frankfort

Race #2 of the Kentucky League mountain bike season took place last Sunday at Capitol View Park in Frankfort. The Marshall County team place 19 riders on the podium from sixth grade through varsity with races ranging from one through five laps of the nearly four mile course.

Starting with the varsity girls race, junior Presleigh Jennings placed second in their four lap race.  Olivia Myhand placed third and Alyssa McClain took fourth. Samantha Clark of Revolution Development Composite took the win.

In varsity boys, junior Chase Binkley crossed the line in second in their 5-lap race, Caleb Pahl was third and Marshall Gregory fourth. Foster Bloch of the Bluegrass Berms Composite team placed first.

Freshman Allie Burkeen won the 3-lap JV girls race and Autumn Downs was second. The JV boys division which was won by independent racer George Frazier of Louisville. Marshall’s Gabe Driskill placed 11th.

Claire Austin, a sophomore, won the 3-lap sophomore girls race followed by teammate Evie Powell in second. Sophomore Memphis Ford took the win in the sophomore boys race which also covered three laps of the course. Ty Elrod took second and Landon Gipson third.

Arianna Akins won the freshman girls 3-lap race for Marshall County and Eli Rudd took second in the freshman boys race which was won by David Komprs with the Bluegrass Berms Composite Team.

The eighth grade races covered two laps of the course with wins in both the girls and boys races going to the Marshals. Emma Roberts took first and Addison Roberts second while Braxton Lima took first, Brady Atkins second and Donaven Watson fourth in the boys race.

In seventh grade results, Emmalee Downs took second and Avery Criswell fifth in their 2-lap race. In the 1-lap sixth grade races, Amelia Miller placed second and Dalton Powell third.

The first place finishers in the freshman through varsity divisions will wear the Leader’s Jersey going into the next race.

Race #3 takes place on September 26 at Buffalo Lake in Elizabethtown.
