Lady Marshals second at Frederick Douglass Invitational

At Kearney Hill Golf Links following Saturday’s Frederick Douglass Invitational (L-R) Coach Aaron Beth, Trinity Beth, Savannah Howell, Megan Hertter, Elsie Riley and Katie Roberts.

Saturday at Kearney Hill Golf Links in Lexington, the Lady Marshals finished second in the Frederick Douglass Invitational with a team score of 297 (+7). It took a school record score of 295 (+9) by Madison Central to beat them by two strokes.

Megan Herrter tied for first place with Madison Central’s Clara Beth Ramsey, both finishing with a 2-under 70. Ramsey took the win in a playoff. Trinity Beth tied for third place with Madison Central’s Elizabeth Eberle, both shooting 1-over 73. Savannah Howell also finished in a tie with a 3-over round of 75.  Rounding out team scores, Katie Roberts shot 79 and Elsie Riley 88.

Last Thursday, the Lady Marshals played a match against Murray  and Mayfield at Murray Country Club. The Lady Marshals won the 9-hole match with a team score of 150, Murray was second with 204 and Mayfield did not record a team score.

Medalist honors went to Trinity Beth with a 3-under 34, Savannah Howell shot 36, Megan Hertter 38, Katie Roberts 42 and Elsie Riley 45. Emerson Vaughn shot the low round of 41 for Murray and Addie Sullivan led Mayfield with a 42.

This Saturday, the Lady Marshals and Marshals will host the Marshall County Invitational at Calvert City Country Club.
