A Soldiers Heart, Bluegrass and Muddy Waters goal is to reduce the number of veteran suicides each day. They offer outdoor retreats to veterans (male and female separately) for absolutely no cost to any participant and activities include – kayak, canoe, hike, and camp.

The organization has partnered with Camp Brown Bear in Frankfort, Kentucky where they  participate in team building projects as well as several holistic methods of therapy such as massage therapy, yoga, acupuncture, equine therapy, art therapy and intentional conversations dealing with each veteran’s military service.

Most recently they have begun offering 7-10 day sailing retreats in the Florida Keys. Again, these retreats cost our veterans nothing. At A Soldiers Heart we believe comradery with fellow brothers and sisters who have similar struggles and the veterans ability to live intentionally toward wellness is key to reducing the number of veteran suicides each day.

We are a grassroots organization that began with a desire to help. Today, that is still our goal. All of our donations received go toward helping veterans live their fullest life.

Once a year, around September 11th, we host a two day music festival which is the one fundraiser we have that, we hope, provides enough income for the next year’s events. This is the one time a year we are intentional to ask for help. The concert is called Pickin’ on A Soldiers Heart and will take place at Kenlake Amphitheatre on September 10th and 11th.
