Marshals down Calloway 5-1, remain undefeated in district games

Jack Noles (25) battles off Calloway County’s Zak Stark late in the first half of the Marshals 5-1 win over the Lakers.

Eyeing their fourth shutout of the early season, the Marshals led Calloway County 5-0 until a deep in the second half goal averted a first scoreless game of the season for the Lakers (2-2).

Just thirty seconds into the contest, Collin Riley booted the first goal in from left to the right corner of the net – his fourth of the season. William Lynch scored back-to-back goals at the 26th and 24th minutes to give the Marshals a 3-0 lead at halftime.

Jase Strader made it a 4-0 game on an assist from John Wood and the fifth goal was scored by Jericho Evans near the 18 minute mark of the half. Kristian Angeson-Pagh saved the shutout for the Lakers with his late game goal.

The Marshals will have a break from competition while preparing for a big week ahead. Tuesday they will host Murray (2-0) and will play at home again on Thursday against McCracken County (3-2-1) before wrapping up the week on Saturday at Daviess County.

Alex Shaverin awaits the throw in from Calloway County in Thursday’s district game at Colburn Stadium.
William Lynch holds off Calloway County defender Freeman Reinhardt (13) in Thursday’s district match. Lynch had back-to-back goals in the first half bringing his season total to 12 in the first six games.
