COVID cases are increasing in Marshall County

As illustrated in the chart above, positive case incident rates for Marshall County have fluctuated between 1.8 to 3.2% through the month of June and early part of July. However, rates have increased dramatically for the past two weeks. Our lowest rate of the year was 1.8% as reported immediately following the 4th of July weekend. Since then, rates have doubled and tripled progressively to our current rate of 31.2%. This is an alarming trend!

Information gathered through our Disease Investigators indicate the most common sources of the new cases relate to large gatherings and out of state travel. While no one is completely immune to contracting the virus, most of the positive cases are occurring in our unvaccinated population.

We have received inquiries about the possible spread of the delta variant in our community. We have not received confirmation of the delta variant amongst any of our positive cases. The Marshall County Health Department would like to remind everyone that COVID-19 is still active in our community, and we please ask everyone to take necessary precautions to protect themselves, family, friends, and community.
