Marshals beat Murray to advance to 4th District title game

Evan Oakley over seven innings, struck out nine batters, allowed five hits and three runs in the Marshals 5-3 4th District Tournament semi-final win over Murray on Saturday.

With Saturday’s  5-3 win over Murray in the 4th District semi-final, the Marshals advance to meet Calloway County on Monday at 4:00 in the district title game.

The game was tied 3-3 going into the fourth inning and two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the Marshals held up for the win and trip to the title game.

Both teams put up three runs in the first inning, Murray’s runs scoring on a double by Kade Gibson, sacrifice by Austin Miller and single by Reese Wilson. The Marshals answered with three runs in the bottom of the inning after loading the bases on a walk by Conner Mannon, double by Ethan Landis and walk by Brady Ives. The runs scoring on an Evan Oakley RBI, error and single by Chase Hayden to tie 3-3.

Two runs in the bottom of the fourth for the 5-3 lead came in on a triple by Mannon and single from Landis.

Evan Oakley earned the win over seven innings, the senior struck out nine batters while allowing five hits and three runs.
