Doubleheader sweep over Dawson Springs ends CFS five game skid

Third baseman Zailey McClain was 5-for-6 in the Lady Eagles doubleheader wins over Dawson Springs. Combined, the senior had a double, two triples and three RBIs.

Christian Fellowship picked up a doubleheader sweep over Dawson Springs Thursday, snapping a five-game losing streak. They won 15-3 in five innings in the first game in Dawson Springs and took care of business in three innings in game two, winning 17-2. They began the week with a 6-3 loss to Mayfield on Monday.

Already leading 12-0 after two innings in the first game, their 15 runs came on 16 hits led by four players who were 3-for-4 at the plate – Jayden Jackson hit a double and had two RBIs, Zailey McClain with a double, triple and two RBIs, Gracie Howard with two doubles and three RBIs and Rhema Howards had two RBIs.

Jackson struck out six on her way to the six inning win, allowing six hits and one earned run of the three scored by the Lady Panthers.

In game two of the doubleheader, the Lady Eagles 17 runs came on 12 hits. Alyssa Warren went 3-for-3 with three RBIs, Gracie Howard 2-for-3 with two RBIs, a hit and three RBIs for Ava Manning, Jayden Jackson hit a double and had 2 RBIs and Zailey McClain hit a triple and had an RBI.

McClain pitched the win, allowing two hits, two runs and struck out four.

Jayden Jackson, at the plate in the Lady Eagles first game of the season against Mayfield they lost 15-0. A much improved outcome came on Monday with they lost to the Lady Cardinals 6-3.

Monday against Mayfield, the two teams were tied 3-3 heading into the fifth inning. Mayfield scored two in the bottom of fifth and added another run in the bottom of the sixth to get the 6-3 win. The Lady Eagles four hits came from Jayden Jackson with two and one each by Alyssa Warren and Gracie Howard.

For Mayfield, Jo Jo Fox hit an inside-the-park home run in the bottom of the third and triple in the bottom of the fifth. The freshman also earned the win from the circle in the final three and two thirds innings, allowing 1 hits and no runs while striking out eight. Jackson struck out eight for CFS, allowed five hits and one earned run.

The Lady Eagles head to Fort Campbell for a double header tonight then turn around on Saturday afternoon with another double header at Community Christian.
