CFS eyeing next win, play Livingston Central on Thursday

Christian Fellowship’s Lady Eagles have won two of their last six games with a current record of 4-5. Their game scheduled Tuesday against Fulton County was the first COVID cancellation this season so the next game up will be at Livingston Central (8-4) on Thursday.

After a 2-1 start to the season, CFS lost 13-0 to Carlisle County then followed it up with a 21-8 win over Fulton County. They lost 19-16 to University Heights in a game that tallied up a combined 28 hits. Last week they split games, losing 16-0 to Trigg County and picking up a 19-8 win over Fulton City. Monday, the Lady Eagles fell in a home game to St. Mary 14-0.

April 13 – Carlisle County 16, CFS 0
Carlisle County had 13 hits in their Region 1 All “A” Tournament win over CFS, led at the plate by Karlie Gibson who went 3-for-4 with a double, triple and two RBIs and Alexis Jones going 2-for-5 with a double and five RBIs. Rhianna Thomason earned the win pitching four innings, striking out eight. Jayden Jackson had both of the Lady Eagles hits including a double.

April 15 – CFS 21, Fulton County 8
Eight big runs in the first inning for the Lady Eagles set the tone in the win over Fulton County.  Zailey McClain was perfect at the plate for CFS going 3-for-3 with a double and RBI. Alyssa Warren went 1-for-2 and batted in three runs. Jackson earned the win over four innings, allowing four hits, four runs and struck out five. McKenzie Smith hit a triple and home run to lead Fulton County.

April 16 – University Heights 19, CFS 16
Both teams had 14 hits but the Lady Eagles 12 errors were a factor in their 19-16 loss to UHA. Jayden Jackson went 3-for-4 at the plate for CFS with a triple and RBI and Alyssa Warren was 3-for-5 with two doubles and three RBIs. Maddie Siebert had three hits and Rhema Howard had two including a double. Jalila Batey had the hot bat for UHA hitting a couple of doubles that brought in four runs. Regan Pollard was 4-for-5 with two triples and three RBIs. It was the Lady Blazers second win of their first four games of the season.

Trigg County’s five run first inning held until the top of the fifth when they put up 11 runs to get the five inning win on six hits. The Lady Eagles two hits came off the bats of Jayden Jackson and Alyssa Warren. Eighth grader Avery Wade pitched the shutout while striking out five.

Trailing 7-5 going into the bottom of the fourth, the Lady Eagles exploded for 14 runs to earn the five and a half inning win over Fulton City on 12 hits. Elizabeth Dunning, who was 2-for-4 at the plate led in RBIs with four. Zailey McClain went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs and Rhema Howard hit a two run double. Jayden Jackson pitched all five innings striking out nine batters while allowing eight hits and eight runs.

April 26 – St. Mary 14, CFS 0
After three innings Monday at Miller Park, the Lady Eagles were still in reach of the Lady Vikings, down 3-0. St. Mary scored 11 runs between the fourth and fifth innings to get the shut out win on 16 hits. Sophomore Kaitlynn Burrus controlled the game from the circle over five innings, striking out 10 and allowing only one hit. That hit came from Elle LeClaire for CFS. Burrus was also big at the plate for St. Mary, going 4-for-4 with a double, triple and three RBIs. St. Mary improves to 6-2.
