Nimmo honored, Lady Marshals receive championship rings

Jay Nimmo pictured with Marshall County Athletic Director Mike Johnson and Coach Keith Bell was recognized for his accomplishments this fall as a member of the golf team. The girl’s team was also recognized for their accomplishments and received their KHSAA State Championship rings.

Last week during the Marshall County-Graves County double-header, Jay Nimmo and the girls golf team was honored for their outstanding fall seasons.

Nimmo has been a member of the Marshall County golf team since the fifth grade and during those eight years helped lead the Marshals to six state tournament appearances – a fourth place finish in 2019 and third place finish in 2020. He is the two-time reigning state individual champion in 2019 and 2020. He was named Kentucky Mr. Golf in 2019 and earned the 2020 Golf House Kentucky Junior Player of the Year.

The Lady Marshals received their KHSAA State Championship rings from Superintendent Trent Lovett – a title they won by 39 strokes. They won 10 of their 11 tournaments this season and took second in one while breaking 300 four times as a team and won the First Region Tournament for a fourth consecutive year – this time by 47 strokes.

Trinity Beth was selected Kentucky’s Miss Golf, the first ever girls player from Marshall County to receive the honor. Coach Aaron Beth was named the KGCA (Kentucky Golf Coaches association) Girls State Coach of the Year.
