James Rowe, 87

Mr. James A. “Jimmy” Rowe, 87, Calvert City, KY, the Griggstown community died at 7:33 a.m. Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at Marshall County Hospital.

Mr. Rowe was born December 26th, 1933 to the late Marvin and Ethel (Flannery) Rowe in Martin, KY. He was a 1953 graduate of Calvert City High School and was employed as an operator at TOTAL Affiliates for 39 years. Jimmy was a member of Maple Hill Church of Christ, a 66 year member of Calvert City Masonic Lodge No. 543 and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.

Mr. Rowe is survived by his wife of 61 years Wanda (Irvan) Rowe; one son, Keith (Amy) Rowe of Murfreesboro, TN; one daughter, Melanie (Ronnie) Johnson of Clarksville, TN; granddaughters Betsy (Wes) Compton, Rachel (Cory) Boller, Hannah Rowe, Erin (Jordan) Bettazza; grandson, Jesse (Andrea) Johnson; great-granddaughers, Aurora, Alexandria, and Azzurra Bettazza; and great-grandson Nolan Thomas Compton.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Marvin and Ethel Rowe; one sister, Mary Florence (William E.) Ford, and niece, Marilyn Metzger.

Jimmy believed that you preached your own funeral sermon by the life you led and requested a simple service of scripture and prayer which will be conducted 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 22nd, 2021 at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th Street, Benton, KY. Roger Irvan and Joe Draffen will officiate. Interment will follow in Marshall County Memory Gardens.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 22nd at the funeral home. It is requested that masking and social distance COVID-19 protocols be observed during the visitation and funeral service.
