Marshall County’s Rose named Junior All-American

(Benton, KY)-West Kentucky All-Stars Outfielder Talan Rose, 13, of Benton has been selected to play in the prestigious 2021 Game Day USA Junior All-American Games in Tucson, Arizona, February 12-14.  The President’s Day weekend event will be held at the Kino Sports Complex, the former Spring Training and Minor League homes of Major League Baseball’s Chicago White Sox and Arizona Diamondbacks.

An Eighth Grader at South Marshall Middle School, Talan is also a member of the Marshals basketball and baseball teams.  During the USSSA All-American Games in 2020, Rose hit .333 and received a silver ring with Team Northeast 13u that placed second in Viera, Florida. Of this invitation Rose said, “I am thankful for my coaches Wilby Hawkins, Shaun Beggs, Tyler O’Daniel, David Alexander and Randy Jackson who have helped me grow my confidence to play in these events.  While I am excited to play in Arizona, I can’t wait to compete with my All-Stars teammates this spring and summer!  Our club is working hard this offseason so that we will be ready!”

Game Day USA Junior All-American nominations are from college coaches, scouts, tournament directors and recruitment sources. During the weekend, players will receive professional baseball instruction, including position specific training.  They will also get to hear from an impact speaker at the opening ceremony and have the opportunity to take swings in a Home Run Derby and flash their leather in a Skills Showcase challenge.

Talan is the son of Brandy and Jeremy Rose of Benton.  He has one brother, Kelan.
