UPDATE: Eastbound Lanes of I-24 Blocked by SEMI Fire at 55.5mm at 6:15 a.m.

PADUCAH, KY (Dec. 23, 2020)- –  The eastbound lanes of I-24 continue to be blocked at the site of a SEMI fire at the 55.5 mile marker.

The truck was hauling soybean oil.  The fire has caused significant damage to the roadway along the eastbound lanes of I-24 is near the Lyon-Caldwell County Line.

Efforts to clear debris from the burned truck are continuing.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet engineers will be assessing the condition of damaged concrete pavement after daylight to come up with a plan for restoring traffic.

Estimated duration is extended about 6 hours to about 12 Noon, CST.

A detour is established via the KY 293 Eddyville Exit 45 Interchange to KY 93 south, with traffic returning to the I-24 eastbound lanes at the KY 139 Princeton-Cadiz Exit 56 Interchange.  Caution is required along the detour due to heavy traffic flow.

Updates as appropriate.
