Calvert City Lions Club will host 61st Christmas Parade

The Calvert City Lions Club will sponsor its 61st annual Christmas parade on Saturday, December  5th.  The parade will be a lighted night- time event.   Parade entries are requested to assemble their floats and maintain social distancing at Pathway Baptist Church parking lot at 4:45 p.m.  Judging will take place at 5:30 p.m. with the parade kicking off at 6:00 p.m.

This year’s theme is “Christmas Trees and Memories” and all entries are asked to keep this in mind when constructing their floats.  Cash prizes in the amounts of $150 for 1st place, $75 for 2nd place, $150 for best use of lights and $150 for best depiction of parade theme on a float will be awarded.  The Calvert City Lions have also introduced a new category and will award a cash prize of $50 to the best use of lights on a golf cart entry.

The parade route will begin at the intersection of Fifth Avenue and KY 95 and then proceed along Fifth Avenue to the Calvert City Civic Center.  The Grand Marshall will not be an individual this year but will be all of our local “First Responders”.    Please note that the Lions Club will have Santa Claus on a float at the end of the parade and prefers having only one Santa Claus in the parade.

Because of safety concerns, no horses are allowed in the parade or along the parade route, and treats distributed during the parade must be done in accordance with current COVID-19 restrictions.  Also, due to COVID-19 considerations, Santa will ride his sleigh in the parade, but will not meet at the civic center and the Calvert City Lions Club will not provided drinks or hot dogs after the parade.  Questions concerning this event need to be directed to parade chairperson Terry Davis at 270-703-7009.
