Master Gardener Barbara Ray joined us recently on WCBL’s Coffee Call. She said now is the time to start “tucking” your gardens in for the winter. One of the most important things you can do is to mulch around your flowers and plants. Ray says to add 3 to 4 inches of new mulch if it has been several years since you’ve mulched, but to add only about 2 inches if you are adding to recent mulch. And she says if you want a pretty spring garden, now is the time to plant your bulbs. Barbara Ray joins us the first Monday of each month for Coffee Call.
