Lady Marshals win Trigg County cross country meet

Marshall County cross country teams competed in the Fenton Dawson Invitational in Cadiz on Saturday. The 5000m race was split into two boys and two girls group – Black Division and Silver Division.

The Lady Marshals came out on top, winning the Black Division with 58 runners at the start line, led by Presley Jezik (21:43.23) with the top finish in fourth. Calloway County’s Ainsley Smith (19:41.58) finished first.

Following Jezik’s finish; 5th Audra Fite (21:43.23), 11th Ruthie Clark (24:31.66), 27th Presleigh Jennings (27:01.94), 30th Elizabeth Barrett (27:28.36).

St. Mary’s Gabby Ault (20:34.59) won the Silver Division and Graves County took the team win.

Led by Ethan McCarty’s third place finish (17:07.49) the Marshals finished fourth in the Black Division among 77 runners and 12 teams. Trigg County’s Austin Cavanaugh (16:30.10) took the win to help lead his team to a first place finish.

Marshall results following McCarty; 7th Samuel Lanham (18:05.46), 23rd Sawyer Collins (19:22.53), 25th Ilya O’Bryan (19:33.13), 32nd Walker Jones (20:03.77), 37th Jett Sealock (20:32.77).

The Silver Division was won by Apollo’s Thomas Ashby (16:57.71) to lead the Eagles team to first place overall.

The Marshall County team will travel to Owensboro on Saturday to compete in the Fast Cats Classic.
