Lady Marshals return veteran squad for the 2020 season

Clara Bradley, an All-District player from last season, is one of eight seniors on this year’s team that will bring a lot of experience to the floor for the Lady Marshals.

One week from today, the Lady Marshals volleyball team will take the floor in their first match of the 2020 season. They will play at Paducah Tilghman in a JV/Varsity double-header that gets underway at 5:00.

Matches will look a little different this year with the elimination of triple-headers which leaves out the freshman teams playing first, an action the KHSAA Board of Controls took in their July 28 meeting. Teams will be limited to 24 contests in the regular season and 15 uniform players during each match.

Another change comes in district play. During a typical season, district opponents play twice and those results determine post-season seeding. This year, if multiple matches are played with a district opponent, the first match will be used to determine seed.

The Lady Marshals are under the direction of second-year head coach Laura Kinder and return almost all of the major contributors from last year’s 20-16 season.

They open with three away games before their first home game on Sept. 17 against Region I powerhouse McCracken County.
