I-24 Paducah Work Zone Transition to Eastbound Only is Complete

PADUCAH, Ky. (Aug 14, 2020) ) — A contractor for the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet has established an eastbound work zone lane and load width restriction along a 2-mile section of Interstate 24 at Paducah from the 2.8 to 4.8 mile marker.

All westbound construction activity is complete, allowing all westbound work zone lane restrictions to be removed.  As of this afternoon, all work activity has moved to the eastbound lanes.

This eastbound work zone runs along I-24 from mile point 2.8 at the KY 305 Paducah Exit 3 interchange extending through the Interstate 24/U.S. 60 Exit 4 Interchange to mile point 4.8 just beyond the Perkins Creek Bridge.

This extended work zone is to allow bridge deck overlay and maintenance work on the KY 305 Exit 3 Overpass, the U.S. 60 Exit 4 Overpass, and the Perkins Creek Bridge.

Eastbound motorists should be prepared to encounter slowing and merging traffic as they enter Kentucky from Illinois via the I-24 Ohio River Bridge.  Initially, all eastbound traffic is moved to the right-hand or driving lane in this work zone.

This 2-mile long work zone includes a 13 ft. maximum load width restriction.

This work zone has a 55 mile per hour speed limit with an enhanced enforcement presence and double fines for citations.

Harper Construction, LLC, is the prime contractor on this $1.4 million bridge deck replacement and maintenance project. The target completion date for all work on the project is October 15, 2020.
