Tyler Powell, Trinity Beth win Championship division in Marshall Strong Classic

Tyler Powell and Trinity Beth earned Medalist honors in the Championship divisions of the PGA Kentucky Junior Tour Marshall Strong Classic July 11-12.

The Kentucky Junior Golf Tour Marshall Strong Classic was held at Calvert City Country Club over the weekend. Several local golfers participated with five taking Medalist honors in their divisions.

Tyler Powell, Marshall County alum and future Murray State Racer golf team member, took first in the Boys Championship division, taking the win by five strokes over Rocco Zakutney of Paducah. Powell finished with a 1-under 143 (72-71).

Trinity Beth placed first in the Girls Championship division, carding 148 to finish +4 (72-76), to win by seven strokes over Macey Brown of Owensboro.

Katie Roberts won the Girls 13-15 division, finishing at +33 with a two day total of 177 (93-84).

Ryan Stokes took first in the Boys 11-12 division, finishing at +9 with an 18 hole score of 81 (37-44).

Gage Norman won the Boys 8 & U division finishing +6 for 12 holes (28-24=52).

Also in the boys Championship division, Trey Wall finished third at +5 (73-76=149) and Camdyn McLeod finished fourth at +6 (75-75=150).

In the Boys 15-18 group, Hayden Powell finished third with at +18 (80-82=162), David Morris finished sixth at +25 (88-81=169), Preston Futrell placed seventh at +26 (83-87=170) and Gunner Hoover finished 12th at +32 (91-85=176).

In the Girls 12 & U group, Charlee Murphy finished her 18 hole round at +22 (63-58=121) to take third place.
